Vendor spotlight: The Sterling Inn Banquet and Conference Center
Today, we bring you another venue that we think you will adore!
The Sterling Inn Banquet and Conference Center accommodates all requests. They pride themselves in having a wonderful staff that has dedicated years to serving couples on their wedding days.
Their chef has been at the facility for 32 years. He can create anything says Kasia Ladyga, the sales and catering manager at Sterling Inn. In her 14 years there, she has seen him create meals including anything from wild game to Indian cuisine.
“I love the diversity of everything and that we’re able to customize things. We have temporary dance floors, which really helps brides customize the room.”
Last year, Sterling Inn hosted 110 weddings, and they already have 75 on the books for this coming year.
Kasia says that Sunday weddings are becoming more and more popular.
“We see a lot more Sunday weddings during holiday weekends – memorial day and labor day are sold out already. We discount our rates on Fridays and Sundays. For Fridays and Saturdays we have to stay strict to the times. Sundays, though, we are a lot more flexible on times.”
The banquet and conference center hosts outdoor and indoor ceremonies and receptions. They have the capacity to hold up to 1100 guests, depending on where the couple decides to get married.
The largest wedding Kasia has seen held 660 guests.
One of the funniest things Kasia has seen at a wedding was a 6’7” groom who wore bright, lime green pants!
“You could see them from space. I’ve never seen anything quite that bright, and I of course made fun of him for it,” she said jokingly.
They have also hosted their fair share of emotional events, as well.
One wedding that Kasia remembers was small – 65 guests tops. The bride was getting married quickly, and planned the wedding in eight to 10 weeks. Later, Kasia found out that the bride’s father was passing away from cancer. His only wish was to see her down the aisle.
Two days before the wedding, doctors had given the bride’s dad 48 hours, so she called Kasia to talk about their options. Unfortunately, he passed away the morning of the wedding. Everyone rushed over the house and they got married in the front room with just family surrounding them.
They ended up having the ceremony and reception that they wanted, but Kasia said that it was even more special to have had them surrounding the bride’s father on his deathbed.
Kasia has also seen many different themed weddings.
“We’ve had one where the centerpieces were monopoly boards. We had a Star Wars theme on May fourth. Some others have included peacock feathers, and Phantom of the Opera decor.”
