We all have been to at least one bridal shower where the games were painful to get through. We have compiled a list of eight bridal shower games that are actually fun and may bring a laugh or two!
1. The Newlywed Game.
This one can be hilarious. Here’s how it works: you interview the groom before the bridal shower, asking him questions regarding himself. These questions can include things like, “when was your first kiss?” and, “what’s your most annoying habit?”
At the shower, ask the bride the same questions about her groom and see if she answers correctly. To take this to the next level, try recording video footage of the groom answering the questions you’ve asked and play it at the shower after the bride has answered the questions as well!
2. Guess the Groom.
If your groom is planning to be at the shower, this is a good one to include because it works best with co-ed groups because you’ll also need a few other men. Have the men at the shower line up after you’ve blindfolded the bride. Have her take turns touching the shoulders or faces of the men to see if she can guess which one is her groom.
3. He Said, She Said.
Before the bridal shower, ask the bride and the groom about their love story, including questions like how they met, what their first vacation together was, what meeting each other’s parents was like, etc. Make a list of their answers, mixing up the bride and groom’s responses. Then, print out copies of the list of quotes you’ve complied and have the guests at the shower guess who said what. Make sure to choose statements and questions that could apply to both bride and groom to make this a little bit harder! An example would be: “The first thing I noticed about him/her was…)
4. Who am I?
This one is very guest-interactive. Have each guest at the bridal shower write down a personal memory that they’ve shared with the bride on a small piece of paper. Sit the bride down and have her read out each memory, guessing who wrote down the memory. If the bride does not guess correctly, the guest gets a prize!
5. Pass the Bouquet.
This is a little like hot potato. The goal of this game is to get your guests in a circle and begin playing music. Have the guests pass around a bouquet, stopping the music periodically. The guest still holding the bouquet when the music stops will be eliminated. Winner gets a prize!
6. Name that Movie Quote.
Write out famous romance movie quotes in a list on a piece of paper. Hand out the papers to your guests at the bridal shower and have them fill out as many movie titles as possible. You could even make this timed if you wanted to. The highest number of correct answers wins.
7. Keys to a Successful Marriage.
This one is unique, and it’s more of a chance for guests to give the bride advice than anything else. Find vintage skeleton keys (at any local antique store), and attach little cards to the ends of them. Give each guest a key and have him/her write out one piece of advice on the piece of paper attached. Sit the bride down and have her read them, guessing who might have given her such advice.
To avoid the typical bridal shower, we hope that these suggestions will make you think differently about bridal shower games. Not all of them are boring, you just have to figure out what fits your bride best!
