While some traditions such as big cakes and bouquets are still around, many other things about weddings have changed. For one, weddings have gone digital. According to Wedding Wire’s recent study, there has been a 60-percent increase in the number of vendors researched online, and couples use mobile apps six times more than they did 10 years ago. Now, the average wedding has double the number of vendors as it did a decade ago. We reached out to three 3 local brides with 3 different wedding dates to learn about the apps that they used to make their wedding days effortless.
Dana Jordan
Dana Jordan and hubby recommended weddingwire.com for electronic invitations and RSVPs. She used the website to organize names and email addresses of all her wedding guests. Dana loved that the duplicates were easily identified, and that the list could be downloaded directly to a spreadsheet. Then, her hostesses can use the spreadsheet to check in guests. Wedding Wire also has an app that is compatible with both Apple and Android devices which made it helpful to the entire wedding party.
Melanie Bowers
Melanie Bowers got married to groom, Damon Bowers on September 11, 2016. Her preferred tool was the Planning Pod. The website allowed more tech savvy guests to RSVP online. The guest count by plate and seat was easily downloaded, and she found that it worked more smoothly than its competitors. Guests who RSVPed using Planning Pod were able to pick their plate of choice, download directions to the venue, view the venue online and view wedding and engagement photos. Although there is a $19/month user fee, there is also a 30-day free trial available for curious brides to be who want to try it.
Lola Banks
Lola used a mixture of software to make the wedding planning process a breeze. For Lola and Brian’s June wedding, she used The Knot for her wedding website and to keep track of RSVP’s. A wedding website is a great place to house all the information about your wedding and ceremony in an accessible way for all guests. When it came to budgeting and creating a seating chart, Wedding Wire was their top choice.
Technology has changed in the wedding industry in the last ten years. It’s no secret that it has built a more intimate connection with engaged couples and wedding attendees while allowing couples to save time and money. It has also allowed not only dyi brides but all brides to easily navigate through the planning process. Are you in the process of planning of a wedding or was recently married? What apps did you use to plan your wedding?
