Celebrating or re-celebrating life’s momentous occasions.
When you google the definition of the work “ remix ” the result is “to mix something again” OR “a different version…”
Sometimes things don’t go as planned, so you want a do-over, a second celebration. Not only does this apply in life, but it also applies to life’s celebration. We celebrated the life of Aretha Franklin, and her family showed how to truly remix her Homegoing celebration. The Queen of Soul appeared in a different outfit every day while lying in state at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, her home church, New Bethel Baptist Church in #Detroit, and finally in regal style – white and gold – at her final Life Celebration .
Just as fitting for a funeral, the same can be true for a “celebration remix” of life’s other special moments, such as the following:
3) The first Marriage Celebration – things went wrong repeatedly throughout the day, and it wasn’t just behind-the-scenes issues. You married the love of your life, but it wasn’t the memorable occasion you envisioned. You want another chance to showcase to your family and friends your undying love for each other. It’s time for a Re-Mix.
Whatever your desire, just keep the following in mind:
You have NOTHING to prove to anyone. Keep the LOVE for your partner at the forefront of all your planning. If it’s LOVE you’re showcasing to your family and friends, then you’ll have the PERFECT remix celebration. In other words, don’t just do it for the “show” because you’re trying to outdo someone else, as seen in the movie “Bridal Wars.”
Hire a PROFESSIONAL to coordinate all your needs and the Day-Of. Hire someone that comes highly recommended and knows how to handle a variety of events of all sizes. There are a plethora of individuals to choose from. Enlist the services of an expert, and if there’s someone you know that wants to be an event professional, ask him/her to “assist” or take notes during the event.
Because this is a remix, consider diversifying your celebration, i.e. have it on a non-traditional day, like a Saturday early afternoon OR a Sunday brunch time OR even a Friday after work affair. It’s nice to do something “different” – after all it is a remix!
Happy Planning!!
