An interview with Melissa Tremblay of Platinum Imagery in Birmingham, MI

Last week, we spoke to Melissa Tremblay of Platinum Imagery in Birmingham, MI about her photography business, and we want to tell you all about it. Melissa specializes in boudoir sessions, and making clients feel comfortable and beautiful!
Melissa said that one of the most important parts of her business is making the client top priority, offering a high quality product.
“We also do not rely on our clients to be responsible for posing and facial expressions – we guide them through every step of the process,” she said.
Platinum Imagery goes through all of the images shot during a session, and chooses the top 30-40 images, which then receive a magazine-quality edit. Clients will never see an unedited image.
Melissa said that their shooting style, which embodies elegance and glamour, sets them apart from other studios. They have a 1,800 square-foot studio that provides the perfect atmosphere for the photo sessions.
“The studio gives us variety for posing and we have several furniture pieces and a bedroom set to shoot on.”
The biggest distinction between Platinum Imagery and their competitors comes with their editing.
“Understanding how to pose all body types in the most flattering way is half the battle, but the other half is taking those images and carefully editing any blemishes and imperfections, adjusting for consistent skin tones and enhancing facial features,” Melissa said.
Time and craft goes into every part of the process with Platinum Imagery. Melissa does all of the shooting and editing in the studio – which means that there is no need for her clients to be concerned that others will be seeing their private images.
Platinum Imagery has photographed nearly 75 boudoir sessions in the last year. Melissa says some brides want to incorporate something special belonging to the groom into the shoot, like motorcycle paraphernalia, or sports jerseys, and she is more than willing to accommodate specific requests.
Though the shooting itself is a fun process for Melissa, she says that her favorite part of the whole experience is what she calls the “Reveal Session.” She said she loves watching her client’s faces as they see their images for the first time. In fact, just last week, one of her clients broke into tears because she felt so beautiful.
